Cotton bush (Gomphocarus fruticosus) is starting to be more visible around the region. We are currently seeing varying stages of development, from new seedlings to fully mature plants with seed pods still intact.
Let’s work together to map the distribution of this invasive weed. Here’s how you can help.
Remove Cotton Bush you may find on your property as soon as possible.
If you have Cotton bush on your property, make sure you remove the plants NOW. Please remember to use gloves and protective covering!
Report Cotton Bush using “My Pest Guide” with details as below:
- Find some cotton bush plants
- Photograph the plant and any insects or diseases
- Report your observations using MyPestGuide TM Reporter (Download

Cotton bush experts will automatically be notified when you have made a report.
Experts will identify the plants and insects in your photographs and reply back to you with advice.
